Digital design standards

Ensuring excellence and sustainability in digital design through robust governance.

Ensuring integrity in our digital presence

Effective web governance ensures that an organization's online presence remains aligned with its goals, values, and user needs. By establishing clear guidelines, roles, and processes, governance helps maintain consistency, quality, and security across digital platforms. It fosters collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, ultimately enhancing user experience and achieving strategic objectives.

This standards document outlines the organization’s responsibilities in following and maintaining digital design standards to ensure alignment across all digital solutions. It also provides an overview of the processes and sustainment models that exist in order to support the ongoing development of the UCDS.

The Digital Design Standards set out to:

  • Represent UCalgary by fostering brand cohesion across our digital ecosystem

  • Create a consistent visual language across products and touchpoints

  • Adopt a human-centred approach do digital design, leading to an improved user experience (UX)

  • Build efficient processes that maximize time savings

  • Maintain high-quality digital designs, with a commitment to accessibility and inclusivity

The Digital Design Standards apply to all digital experiences, regardless of system or platforms, being created in support of marketing and communications on behalf of UCalgary.
